Dampierre Grand Cuvee

As a precurser to our 10th anniversary at West Town Tavern, we're going to splurge. Every Monday in April and May we're offering Champagne and Fried Chicken!! Not just any Champagne, but the Grande Cuvée from Compte Audoin de Dampierre. Now here's the 10th anniversary tie-in: $10 a glass!! Come in and raise a glass!

Comte Audoin de Dampierre Champagne is an outstanding small house based in the village of Chenay. The family has been associated with Champagne for over 700 years. It is served in the French Presidential Cellars and French National Assembly as well as the Spanish Court and the 42 French Embassies. This Brut Grande Cuvee is fresh, elegant and easy drinking. Made from a traditonal blend of 30% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier.

90 points Wine Spectator: "A creamy Champagne, featuring graphite, honey, vanilla and candied citrus aromas and flavors. Light and airy, but has character, harmony and length. Drink now." (06/08) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This starts out on the right foot, hitting you with a whiff of toasted nuts and crème caramel. The maturity of the blend seems well calculated; there’s a very nice mix of crisp green fruit, spicy clove, and more mature, slightly oxidized, nutty flavors. This is not a big wine, but it fills the palate evenly and persists with a core of pleasing, lightly salty, somewhat oily roasted almond."
